Mixed Media on 24 x 36 canvas -
Some flowers bloom despite impossible conditions.
This work reflects the violence that often precedes healing. The burning bouquet symbolizes dreams, innocence, and tenderness being consumed by experiences that were never chosen. The child clutches the flowers while standing at the threshold between innocence and survival.
The handwritten phrase, “Evil has glory. Just a sad little boy,” speaks to the uncomfortable reality that harm often originates from brokenness. It does not excuse violence, but it challenges us to confront its roots.
The scorched roses become both memorial and transformation. Even in destruction, seeds remain.
This piece honors every survivor who learned to bloom after fire.
